My buddy Julian texted me on Saturday asking if Id like to fish the powerhouse at Calvert Cliffs on Sunday. Of course I said yea!
The fog was thick as we made our way up north to the plant, arriving a little after 7:00 a.m. There was a boat already drifting the discharge when we arrived. We got in line and started our drift, taking three passes before we scored our first fish. Tim landing a nice little fish which was released after a quick photo.
We stayed on the drifts as other boats came and went. Jigging off the bottom as the depth finder showed the fish to be. I believe at any one time there no more than five boats at any given time. Then we were alone, just like that. Guessing the bite was just too slow.
We caught a total of 16 fish. Of which six were, Im assuming, last years recruits. The other fish were of respectable size and fun to catch. But no large trophy fish, hopefully they were all up in the tributaries doing their thing and spawning. We then dragged up and faded back into the fog as we headed south towards Solomons.
It was a fun morning.
