I fished yesterday with our office group out of Chesapeake Beach, MD, with Capt. Randy Dean and first mate Ryan Dean on the Bay Hunter II. We spent most of the day trolling in and around False Channel, which produced some beautiful, healthy 20- to 24-inch stock rockfish that were fooled on a variety of patterns. The black drum bite is on in the mid-Bay region. We watched another charter party boat an approximately 70-pound black drum, which I was able to take a picture of at the cleaning table. Apparently the fish tastes like pork, but you have to get past the worms they usually harbor first. A top-rate fish cleaner will remove them for you; they are usually found in the tail area.
