Last Friday was a beautiful day and I was searching for a place where I can fish near my home. I watched a video on YouTube and the guy mentioned that the Lower Gunpowder River is a good place to fish. He said you can catch white perch and crappiethere . So, I immediately did a search for it on Google and found it so I went there to investigate. I talked to some other anglers who shared their stories with me.
I was fascinated when they said snakehead are already being caught here in the Gunpowder River. Well, I thought it was another fishing story. I was saying to myself "all fishermen are liars" but indeed they're not!
The next next day I went to my favorite bait store in Middle River and bought a small box of grass shrimp and a couple of small hooks and went to the Lower Gunpowder with the purpose of catching white perch and crappie.
I was casting and got a plenty of white perch on my hook. After a while, while using my light rod, baited with a grass shrimp, I felt a hard pull down toward the bottom of the stream. At first I thought I snagged a branch of a tree but it was swimming around and moving back and forth. When it broke above the water, I saw a fish with a black striped body and a yellowish belly. My heart was throbbing because it didn't look like anything I had caught before. I carefully reeled it in and landed it on shore. It was a snakehead which I immediately killed. What a surprise!
