Catfish Fishing at Piney Point

I fished Piney Point ramp pier today in St Mary�s county, but started on the Potomac side of the road. I soon realized the tide was slack and water wasn�t moving from St George Creek to the Potomac river. I drug up and headed to the creek side and fished off the pier next to the ramp.

Casting to where there was water moving, I quickly landed four catfish. Three blue cats and a channel cat. Three over 20� and one slightly smaller. All were caught on alewife using an egg sinker and circle hook.

I gave the fish to a family that showed up to fish too. I spent maybe 2 hours fishing with only the last 30 minutes catching fish.
