Shark Fishing

Type: Ocean
Region: Ocean
Location: Ocean City

Had a great day out of O.C. Fishing Center May 26th with Capt. Mark Sampson aboard the Fish Finder. Boated 5 sandbar sharks in the 40-60 lb range and ended the day with a 9'+ several hundred pound blue shark fishing near the Fingers.

All sharks were caught on barbless circle hooks deployed with a very effective blocking rig that prevents the sharks from being gut hooked. Every shark was perfectly hooked in the corner of the jaw. Not one shook the hook and all were quickly released.

Chopper bluefish were around all day, some were deployed as fresh bait but most sharks were caught on false albacore baits.

Had a huge thresher tear through the chum slick at one point at warp speed chasing bluefish, but he was gone as fast as he appeared and he never touched a bait.

Great day with Capt. Sampson and mate Tyler, hope to do that again before too long.
