Atlantic Stingray

Type:
Region: Southern
Location: Piney Point

I took my grandson, Isaac, out for some catfish fishing off Piney Point last Friday in Saint Marys Creek. We set up the rods with cut bait and it wasnt long before his rod tip started to bounce, then there was a hard steady pull. He set the hook hard and the fight was on. Then I realized something was up, his drag was set but line started to peel off the reel. I tightened up the drag and he got control of the fish, bringing to pier side. That's when we realized it was a sting ray. Bringing it up on to the pier I carefully removed the hook, took a quick photo then released the Atlantic Ray back into the water.

Then Isaac suggested we leave and get some ice cream. Fun day!
