Smallmouth Bass in the Potomac

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: upper Potomac River

Caught this 20.25 male smallmouth bass on 6/9/19 in the upper Potomac River right above Whites Ferry. It was very long and skinny looked malnourished, it barely put up a fight. I hurried up and took pictures and a safe release occurred. Then hooked up on a beast of a female 19. Both were caught on shallow running square bill crankbaits. Between my fishing partner Robert and I, we caught around 20 smallmouth that were in the 12-15 range on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits. It was a beautiful morning, water conditions were perfect. Great day on Maryland water!

Rick received a FishMaryland certificate for this catch. Congratulations!
