Wheatley Lake

Type: Nontidal
Region: Southern
Location: Wheatley Lake

I fished Wheatley Lake at Gilbert Run today. Fishing very difficult due to the lake being down a few feet, but in the end I caught nine bass and one crappie. Most were caught on a beetle spin, casting into the shade. I started retrieving the bait at the count of one or two, keeping it above the hydrilla.

I spoke with a bank fisherman and he had caught two small bass by using paddle tails on a jig. Then I spoke with a fisherman in a bass boat, I saw him catching bass, they were small too. He was catching on a small spinner bait and plastic worms. All the fish I caught were very small fish.
