On 10 April 2010, the Youth Bass Club of the Maryland Bass Federation Nation worked with Joe Love and Don Pritchett to place bass boxes in a hatchery pond at the Cedarville Hatchery (Brandywine, MD). Members of the youth club and their parents volunteered their time to temporarily install habitat that can be used by male largemouth bass to build and defend nests. Approximately 100 largemouth bass have recently been released to the hatchery pond with the nests, which will be monitored until June by hatchery staff. Following the installation of the boxes, the youth club and their parents were given a tour of the hatchery facility by Don Pritchett. After they spawn, the adult largemouth bass will be released to Mattawoman Creek (Potomac River) and their offspring will be stocked to targeted reservoirs and tidal rivers of Maryland.
