Snakehead

Type: Tidal
Region: Central
Location: Potomac River

If the snakeheads get any bigger I am buying a gaff. A quiet morning on the Potomac can get exciting real quick. I was fishing a spinnerbait along a shallow marsh bank when we crossed paths with this 14 lb monster. We were in less than a foot of water it looked like someone threw a cinder block on my lure. This is not my first snakehead, but it is my biggest. Rest assured, he was exterminated and I held onto rod a little tighter the rest of the day.

DNR RESPONSE: Thanks for helping us to lower the population size of this invasive species in Maryland. Drop us info on the catch with a picture that clearly shows the fish is dead every time you kill one, and youll get entered again. Thanks for helping out the bass population and the Potomac River ecosystem!
