Fishing Report - Upper Bay 7/10/19

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Central
Location: Chesapeake Bay

7/10/19 - I went out with "Walleye Pete" for a walk-on charter. Another really fine trip. No joy at Thomas Pt Light, so we checked a few spots at the Bay Bridge. We found a bridge support with willing schoolie stripers. Pete had a few spot left over from a previous special family charter. So, several of our charter fished live line. The rest jigged. My 2 oz Lil Bunker was hot. I fished with a left-handed baitcaster with braid on a light rod, I found where the fish were in relation to the support. Both methods were catching beside each other! We limited out for 5 anglers, then went fishing catch and release. The largest striper at the bridge was about 21". Not much doing for stripers at a number of spots to the north. While jigging for stripers, we caught about 20 white perch at various locations off Love Pt! My total on getting to the boat striper limit was 16 stripers and 3 perch. Although fish marked at a few spots at the bridge, the large school that was there appears to have scattered. A few charterboats resorted to planer boards trying to find fish.
