A recent trip to my cousin's lake cabin in Northern Wisconsin yielded my largest smallmouth bass (18 inches) ever. But, the trip mysteriously renewed my interest in salt water fishing in Maryland. So after a 3 year absence, I managed a trip on July 21st to the Ocean City Inlet pier where, as reported in the department's Weekly Fishing Report (thank you!), the bluefish were running on the late night tide turns. For four hours I hooked up a bluefish or hickory shad every few minutes. I even caught a seatrout in the mix! I kept 3 blues for flounder bait on my next trip "downey ayshun."
