Calvert Cliffs State Park Snakehead

Type: Nontidal
Region: Southern
Location: Calvert Cliffs State Park

My grandson, Isaac, and I walked back to the beach at Calvert Cliffs State Park on Thursday. With our fishing rods in hand we walked the two miles it takes to reach the beaver dam along the trail.

I took a few casts, no bite. Then I saw a fry ball moving in my direction. I cast again, a fish broke the surface, I set the hook and the fish took a dive. Then nothing, silence. I took several more casts, harassing the fry. Another fish, heartbreak, again, it let the bait go with in a few feet of the bank. I let the space rest a few moments then I cast again. Hitting the spot I was aiming for, between a few lily pads. The water exploded, I waited, then set. I had him this time!

I was casting a Top water ninja mouse. Basically a top water frog. Fun times.
