Large Sunfish at Herrington Lake

Nathan McKenzie was fishing with his family at Herrington Lake in Oakland, MD on August 20th when he caught this 9” red ear sunfish using a hook and worm. Nathan was casting his bait near the lily pad edges when he hooked the fish. The fish was successfully released back into the water after a few pictures were taken. Other fish caught that day in the lake included many small sunfish, some juvenile largemouth bass, and small catfish.
