Some Friday Fishing

I couldn�t make up my mind so I took in some Bay fishing off Cove Point Friday morning then headed to fish two farm ponds in the late afternoon. I launched my kayak on the bay and saw no bird or surface action. But that didn�t last to long, I started the chase, following the bait fish. I ended up catching 32 rockfish (the majority being under sized) and one speckled trout. The fish were caught on a 1/4oz jig with a paddle tail, when the action slowed I started casting a popping cork with a 20� leader and the same jig. Leaving at noon I unloaded and changed my gear to freshwater tackle before heading over to meet my buddy Steve. We worked two farm ponds in central Calvert county. Casting wacky worm, beetle spin and top water frogs. We ended up catching 42 largemouth bass, two bluegill and six crappie.
