Fishing on the Weekend

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Central
Location: Chesapeake Bay- Severn River at Chase Creek

Over the weekend, Ethan Zlokovitz, friend Lucas Barton, and I (Ethan's dad) added 2 more species-silver perch and spotted sea trout- to our list of fish for Pines on Severn, Chase Creek living shoreline and adjacent docks. In 10 years of fishing this area we have caught a extensive list of brackish and saltwater species, including one possible snakehead lost, and a large channel catfish landed at the boat ramp. However, notably absent are young bluefish, weakfish (grey trout) and summer flounder. We have not seen one of these fish in 10 years of effort with artificial lures, and natural baits, including live grass shrimp with small # 6 and # 4 hooks. You can catch almost anything that swims in the bay with grass shrimp, live minnows, and/or bloodworms. You also can catch many species with a simple 1/8 oz lead head or shad dart and mister twister tail, as shown by the nice striped that Ethan caught casting right off the boat ramp!
