I was fishing this weekend in Southern Maryland and I caught a few different species.
Yesterday, 10/12, I fished off Piney Point in my kayak. The water was extremely high and over the docks and piers. After fishing for four hours the water level never dropped but only changed direction. I cast 1/2oz white bucktail jig dressed with a white paddle tail and a small beetle spin and I caught white perch up to 11, speckled trout, bluefish, schoolie rockfish and a gizzard shad on the bucktail. And yes, I am not lying, the gizzard shad ate my jig. I landed the 14 fish in the net and to my surprise it wasnt foul hooked.
Today, 10/13, I fished at the head water of Mill Creek and caught one largemouth bass. A buddy of mine was fishing too. He fished longer than I, I had to leave after 45 mins to help a friend with his boat. At any rate, my buddy at the Mill Creek location caught striped bass, largemouth bass and a snakehead.
My buddy, who I went to help with his boat, asked if I wanted to go out on the bay and fish with him. Of course I said sure. We caught small bluefish and schoolie rockfish. Pulling small white spoons on planers.
