Loch Raven Fishing Report

Type: Nontidal
Region: Northern
Location: Loch Raven Reservoir

Me and my friend went up to the loch today to do some fishing and I got to say that once again we were not disappointed. We arrived around 10 o'clock at the fishing center realizing that there may be no boats to rent we decided to head up the road and do a little shore fishing. We tried our luck for about an hour to no avail, though a Father and son duo caught several large bluegill and a Small mouth or two near by. We rented a boat and trolled to our favorite spot and stayed put there remainder of the day. The weather was awesome it was about 80 degrees and windy, it was clear skies for half the day then transitioned to overcast with a little drizzle at the end of the day. We had hits all day but weren't able to land anything till around 3:30 when we got plenty of action. We ended up leaving with two pickerel the largest being 17 inches the smallest being 15 inches. We were using Swim shad crank baits by Storm and they seem to be the best for catching pickerel.
