Today I fished two of the Eastern Shore Mill ponds. I started with Unicorn and I then headed back to Tuckahoe.
On Unicorn the bite was slow. I caught three small pickerel and a largemouth bass. Catching the fish on Mepps spinners. Because the bite was so slow on Unicorn I thought Id try Tuckahoe again. The bite was great on Tuckahoe Lake yesterday.
After I unloaded the kayak and paddled out on the lake, I started casting spinners and a Rapala but had no luck. I switched to a Rat-L-Trap, casting the bait as I made my way up the lake. I found bass in a small stump field, facing water being pushed by the wind through a narrow section of the lake. I caught five fish and lost several others. The wind and the rain stopped for a moment and so did the bite and just like that, it was over.
I paddled back to the boat ramp, fog was lifting off the lake. The rain returned and I turned and looked back. The sky and lake touched, I loaded up and headed home.
