I ventured out Friday (1/17), Saturday (1/18) and yesterday (1/20) for an hour each day, before the cold ran me off, at Calvert Cliffs State Park. In fact yesterday I had to walk through ten foot of skim ice to get to open water to fish.
Casting my 3wt set up with a double nymph rig towards the deeper water, I missed more fish than I caught. The fish would either take the bait and immediately let it go or just bump the bait hard. But not all was lost. I caught one fish each day and met my goal, that I wasnt going home without catching a fish. Mercifully I was able to before I froze. It was a fun frozen weekend. Stay warm out there!
