Upper Potomac

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Shepherdstown

I enjoyed an awesome early morning outing just south of Shepherdstown this morning. Between about 6 and 7 am in an area of three to five foot deep water at the bottom edge of a ledge, I caught three 14 inch, one 15 inch and one 19 inch smallmouth(s). All were taken on a Berkeley Gulp sinking minnow. After this time period the action slowed but I ended up at 11:30 with thirteen smallmouth, a nice catfish and one bluegill. It is great to have the water level back down where it is safe to be on the river.
