Fly Fishing Outing Report

Type: Nontidal
Region:
Location: Bear Creek

The weather decided to make up its mind a turn to a nice spring/summer mix in the last week, so a little creek fishing was on the brain and I started to formulate a plan. I called up one of my fishing buddies and next thing you know, we were rigged, loaded up, and hitting the creek on one of our favorite stretches of stream. This particular stretch on Bear Creek is one of the most fished areas on the whole creek but we continue to do well each time we return. Throughout the night we tried a variety of flies, but a caddis imitation proved to be the ticket on this outing. During the trip we were able to bring numerous fish to hand as well as losing a few along the way and we were also able to complete the Bear Creek Slam by catching all three species the inhabit the creek: Brook Trout, Brown Trout, and stocked Rainbow Trout. We caught around twenty fish on that outing, but Marcus was able to make the trip with a true trophy fish of a lifetime. We admired this trophy brookie in the net for a while as it was one of the biggest either of us had ever seen, then snapped a quick picture before releasing this trophy back to the creek to see another day!
