I headed up to Charles County to fish a public farm pond at Indian Creek NRMA near Benedict. I spent two hours wade fishing the pond for largemouth bass.
It didnt take long before I started to catch fish by finding a pattern that proved successful. The fish were sitting under trees over hanging the pond, in the shade from the midday sun. The bass were eating a shaky head rig, with a six inch green plastic worm. All of the bass I caught would pick up the bait and slowly move. So I had to line watch, once I saw my line move I set the hook. I caught a pickerel and a bluegill too using the same method. I did catch two of the bass in the narrow shadow of the telephone pole in the photos below. Bringing my bait through the shadow produced the bite.
I caught a total of nine bass with five over 181/2 the biggest being slightly over 19. It was a fun afternoon on the pond.
