Patuxent Cats!

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Patuxent River

While I was in Huntingtown fishing the Patuxent at 11 p.m. It was 80 degrees and windy and we were fishing in a strong current. Using perch for bait on a catfish rig with an Ugly Stik heavy action. Fishing on 50 pound fluorocarbon with a 12 inch leader and a size 8 circle hook with a 2 ounce slide weight.

We didnt have a scale but a rough estimation on the blue catfish we caught was 25 pounds and a rough estimation on the channel catfish we caught was 7 pounds.

The blue catfish never feel as big as they really are. The channel catfish always have a stronger fight in them so you never know what you might have.
