Seabass Fishing Still Rewarding

Type: Ocean
Region: Eastern
Location: Offshore of Ocean City Maryland

I just returned from a successful black seabass fishing trip on the "Morning Star" out of Ocean City, Maryland. The seabass action was still good, though not as fast as earlier in June. At times the action was slow and the headboat captain had to move around a lot to find the bite. This and a strong current, requiring us to use 12 ounce sinkers, made fishing hard at times. In spite of this I caught 11 black seabass including a 17 incher that could have won the pool, but I decided not to play the fish pool that day.

Some of the fish were good sized, which made up for the shortfall of 4 fish toward my limit. One fisherman on the heaboat was only 1 fish short of a limit. The boat had a light crowd due to the COVID virus pandemic. I noticed coming in the beach was full, so people are enjoying the cool water.
