On Sunday, 8/9, I met a few buddies to fish the Mattawoman out of Mattingly Ave Park today. They were hoping to catch a few snakehead, me, largemouth bass. But as it turned out I only caught two blue catfish. A 24 & 21 fish. Both on a white chatter bait.
One friend of mine caught a snakehead and another caught a largemouth bass. Yet another friend left disappointed. As did most anglers I spoke with on Sunday. I was told by most that they didnt catch fish. A few said they caught maybe one bass.
The Hydrilla has grown in thick around the lily pads and out into the channel about four to six feet. Making it difficult to get back into the pads. The bass boats simply worked the grass and anywhere else they could reach. The water was slightly stained too.
