Location: several MD tidal rivers
I caught an 8 lb snakehead in the tidal Gunpowder River last week on a topwater frog. Over the last two weeks, I've fished several MD tidal rivers and the snakehead bite has been excellent. In a small area of Blackwater, I did notice one exception, though. Several large carp seemed to be spawning in both the spadderdock grass, and on the shallow mud flats that were surrounded by reed patches. Because they were splashing about loudly and displacing a lot of water, this clearly turned off the snakeheads from biting at all. The same situation presented itself earlier in June, and around the same time last year. Just wanted to pass this along to help other anglers avoid unproductive areas. Tight lines!
