A buddy of mine, Mike, asked earlier in the week if I wanted to hit the water today, 9/3. I met him at his boat at 6:30 this morning and we headed down Mill Creek and into the Patuxent River. We made our way out to the bay looking for birds or bait being actively feed on. Seeing no activity after sometime, we headed back into the river. There we cast baits along the shoreline near Pax River. Again no luck. We then looked for fish along the channel leading up river. Finding mackerel and schoolies (rockfish). Casting jigs with soft plastics and metal vertical jigs. We fished until we ran across five or six dolphin in the river. Apparently they were feeding on what we were fishing. The bite ended and we called it a morning.
