Patuxent River Out of Waysons Corner

Yesterday my buddy David and I fished the Patuxent River out of Waysons Corner. We dropped the kayaks in at the soft launch at the base of the bridge off Route 4. We then paddled up river to start fishing in a feeder creek. There we found no fish, strangely we didn�t see any bait fish either. I�m thinking the recent heavy rains and drop in the water temperatures pushed the bait into the deeper parts of the river.

We then started hunting for fish in the main stem of the river. Casting a wacky rig. There we found fish along a group of old pier pilings on a stretch of the river. I did see a few other spots that had minnows jumping on the surface. I�d cast for directly into the spot I saw the minnows. Then hook up with a fish. I ended up with six bass. Five fish on wacky worm and one on a shaky head jig.
