I set out for Mallows Bay today with the intention of catching a few largemouth bass. But that wasnt to be. Hydrilla has filled in the mouth of the two feeder creeks feeding the bay. I did fish whatever clear water I could find, but in the end I settled on fishing around the wrecks. There all I could pull up off the bottom was seven blue catfish. The biggest being 27 most were 22-25. I caught the first fish on a beetle spin, but the fish broke the bait. I then switched up to a small white chatter bait with a white paddle tail. I caught all the fish in a little bit less than an hour. Although I didnt catch my targeted fish, the blue catfish are a fun and hard fighting fish and put up a nice challenge.
