A Few Hours on Mill Creek

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Mill Creek

I got off to a late start today, launching onto the water at 9:30. I hit the regular spots, casting a 1/2 oz jig with a 4 pink and orange paddle tail. I found casting smaller baits were difficult in the wind. The water was moving a bit too fast to allow my lighter baits to get down to where the fish were.

I found white perch along rip rap covered shorelines. I was casting a beetle spin with a gray and white twister rain, this was in shallow water so the smaller baits worked here, those fish were relatively small. I did finally catch some Mill Creek weakfish after a few outings hunting them, catching three fish in 9 to 12 foot of water. The largest weakfish measuring at 13. I caught two on the aforementioned jig and one on a beetle spin.

I also caught a spattering of rockfish here and there too. Then I ran across birds working bait fish with breaking rockfish. Catching a few keepers. The largest rockfish being 20. I got off the water at 12:30, It was just too windy!
