On Wednesday 10/7, I had planned on fishing on the bay in the afternoon with my buddy Grant, but with wind in the forecast my plans changed. So I left before sunrise and headed to St Marys lake for some wade fishing for largemouth bass.
I took a few casts at the base of the dam, but no luck. The hydrilla would stop my bait dead in its tracks. So I changed up and tied on a Zara spook. I then spotted disturbance on the waters surface, I took a cast and caught a pickerel. Then made another cast And caught a small bass.
I moved around to the next cove and once there caught five additional bass. By then I had changed to a wacky rig because I could wade out past the hydrilla and cast along the grass and/or structure. I continued to work the shoreline the best I could. Getting bored with the wacky rig I changed up to a 1/4 oz jig with a 2.8 paddle tail. Catching an additional six bass before I called it a day. It was a really great fishing and the weather was beautiful.
