Snakehead Intel

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Mattawoman Creek

I fish Mattawoman Creek on an average of five evenings a week. Last night while fishing, from my boat, my fishing partner and I caught three Northern Snakeheads. The largest one was about 6 pounds and 18 inches long. The other two were about 12 inches long and at the most weighed 2 pounds.

I caught them caught using a Mann's 1-minus crank bait, blue and silver with a pink spot on its belly around the front treble hook. They were caught between the Beach Island and the Steel Wall in the 6 mph zone of Mattawoman Creek, above the Mattingly launch site.

My fishing buddy caught his using that same Mann's 1-minus crank bait and also using a Mann's 1-minus crank bait that was Fire Tiger in color in the same area.
