Just thought I would drop a note about how good the local small water action has been despite the hundred degree heat. Fished on Thursday June 9 and caught bass and hybrid sunfish from a central Maryland pond. Bass took 4 inch Senkos and the big hybrid sunfish (green sunfish X bluegill cross) took simple worms below bobber rigs. My best bass was 20 inches and the largest hybrid went 11.5 inches. Great fish on 2 pound test line! And great fun. Bluegills, red ears and pumpkinseeds continue to spawn throughout the region and provide great sport for anglers of all ages. Many bass are post spawn but a few remain on beds, even this late into the season... a good catch and release opportunities.
