The afternoon and day on Saturday, Nov. 28th were beautiful, with the sun warming things up. The water on the lake was at 53.5 degrees. Even as the sun dropped in the sky, casting long shadows, it remained warm out.
Fishing along the dam I found the wind out in the open lake was a pain. Although I was marking a lot of fish in 13-15 of water I couldnt get hooked up. Thinking they may have been crappie? So, I headed to some protected water in a nearby cove. There I found bass, pickerel and crappie. All in 6-10 foot of water while casting and trolling a #3 Mepps and Keitech 1/4 oz jig with a blue/green paddle tail.
The bite lasted a few hours then it just shut down after catching 9 largemouth bass, 2 pickerel and three crappie. I spoke to three anglers who were fishing from shore with minnows. They caught a few bass, a pickerel and seven crappie. My friend, Darren fished the lake yesterday out of his kayak, and caught 16 largemouth bass, a blue catfish, 3 crappie and two pickerel. He caught all of his fish on small plugs.
