Eastern Shore Millponds

Type: Nontidal
Region: Eaastern
Location: Eastern Shore Millponds

I fished two ponds on the Eastern Shore yesterday 2/24. Johnsons and Schumaker.

I fished Johnsons from 9-12:30 before moving to Schumaker because of the slow bite and the wind started picking up. I caught three pickerel on Johnsons and a 15 1/8 crappie. On Schumaker, I caught another five pickerel and two LMB. Biggest 21 the other 18. All fish of my catches were on minnows on a Shad dart under a bobber.

I noticed yesterday that one of the pickerel I caught was expressing eggs. Water temps were 46/48, (they spawn at 50 degs) so I am assuming they are getting ready to spawn. So Im thinking the pickerel bite maybe turning off some. But the largemouth bass are biting before their spawn in the coming weeks.
