I took several hours on Thursday (3-11-2021) to fish Allens Fresh off the Wicomico River. I dropped the kayak in and fished for a moment around the bridge, catching a nice crappie. I then headed out to the cedars, where I caught four yellow perch and a largemouth bass before the bite turned off. There were five other boats there too. I saw several bass caught by other anglers and a yellow perch too.
My buddy Dennis showed up at 1:30 and we decided to head up the fresh because of the lack of the yellow perch bite at the cedars. I caught another bass on the way up river. Along the way up we met angler Gene Wright kayak fishing, after Dennis and Gene spoke he decided to join us. We settled on a sand bar and beached the boats. There we cast and drifted minnows on jigs under bobbers. I estimate we caught a total of 21 yellow perch there. We kept 10 of the fish (Gene Wright pictured with stringer) males and post spawn females. Most of the females were pre spawn fish. All other fish were released.
