I was targeting Yellow Perch from shore in Harford County on Thursday, March 11th with long casts to the deeper part of the stream, twitching a tiny jig under a bobber with zero success. When I crossed over to the opposite bank, I caught this nice Largemouth Bass on my third cast. He didn't strike on my jigging action out deep but rather my fast retrieve over the snaggy stuff directly in front of me, proving that the speed of your lure really matters. A serendipitous way for me to avoid the skunk! (Shout out to Steve G. who helped land it around the tree roots.)
