Opening Day

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Owens Creek and Friends Creek-Northern

I just returned from a fishing trip to Owens Creek and Friends Creek for trout on opening day. Fishing was slow for the most part except for two rainbow trout caught on wooly buggers at Friends Creek with one of the fish being 12-13 inches long. The streams are in good condition with clear water and good flows so fishing should be good. It could be that a lot of people showed up at 5:30AM and caught a lot of the trout and those fish remaining might be extra cautious. I talked to one guy who did well, catching 4 fish.
