Potomac River Hickory Shad

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River

I spent a few hours on 4/5/21 fishing the Potomac north of Fletchers Cove. For hickory shad. While standing on a bolder jutting out into the river, you can feel overwhelmed as the river races past. But, the desire to feel the tap and pull of a hickory shad is somewhat overpowering, then as the bite picks up pace, the fear, dangerously fades away. Plan ahead and be safe.

Casting a shad dart spoon combination produced most of the bites and catches for me. I then switched up to a shad dart roadrunner tandem setup which continued the bite.

I caught a total of 27 fish.
