Snakehead

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Mattawoman Creek

Attached is a picture of a 22 inch snakehead caught by my fishing partner on Mattawoman Creek on the evening of June 14. The fish was caught by John Robert Conover of Indian Head about midway between the sand dunes and the steel wall in the 6 mph zone with a firetiger Mann's 1-minus lure. An area we call "snakehead alley" because we have caught nine snakeheads in this area in the past week.

DNR RESPONSE: Thanks for helping us to lower the population size of this invasive species in Maryland. Drop us info on the catch with a picture that clearly shows the fish is dead every time you kill one, and youll get entered again. Thanks for helping out the bass population and the Potomac River ecosystem!
