I went in search of big, freshwater crappie on April 9, 2021. The light rain and drizzle was not enough to keep my friend Jim and I from fishing for a few hours in a Carroll County farm pond known for big crappie. Before long, I hooked into this beautiful 15 inch black crappie. It was released to perhaps be caught again another day. Jim and I caught about two dozen black crappie between us, all on artificial lures. We released every one, and watched them swim away. It was a fun day and we can't wait to go back.
