I caught and released this immense channel catfish from a central Maryland farm pond on May 10, 2021. The fish took a 1/32nd ounce jig tipped with a piece of worm while fishing for bluegills with ultralight tackle and 4 pound test line. No measurements or weight was recorded but I feel confident the fish was in the 16 to 18-pound range, perhaps heavier.

I have caught channel catfish up to 33-inches in length but I doubt this fish was even 30-inches. Its' incredible girth and bulk were just amazing!
