The lake was as calm as it gets. A few days prior to this perticular trip on "The Rhondler" I found a nice drop off about 20 yards off shore and the number of fish popping up on the fish finder was un-real. On Tuesday I came back out to this spot and nailed two Largemouths, one 12" and one 10". Wednesday I decided to take my good friend Dave to share this basshole with. We got out on the water around 6pm and headed to the spot. Fished for about a hour or so with little success. Then around 7:15pm I got a hit. Immediately I look over at Dave and said, "It's is a big one!" He dropped his rod and grabbed the net awaiting the arrival of the monster. Once the fish got close enough to the surface it took off and jumped out of the water a good two feet. Once it hit the water it shot under my boat taking line. After a few minutes of fighting I finally got the lunker to the port of the boat where Dave was waiting. With one perfect scoop he nets the fish with ease. Once on board we measured it, weighed it, snapped some pictures and sent him on his way. Measurements: 22" length, 12" girth, 4.5lbs. Bait: Texas rigged double tail grub on #4 hook. Water temp: 80 degrees. Depth: 20ft.
