Father's Day Weekend

Type: Tidal
Region: Northern
Location: Susquehanna State Park

The weekend was great! I set out late Friday morning over towards the Perryville side of Garret Island and caught a nice Rock Bass. Had a couple of other big hits but no good hook sets. Sunday morning I went out on the Susquehanna from the Mill down at Susquehanna State Park. It was low tide and the Dam was running the least amount of water they could. It was a muddy mess trying to get out to the water. I went out between some of the islands and was trolling with a 1/2 oz spinner bait with gold willow blades. I've never had a hit on a bait with such an explosion of energy! I caught a 16 inch Smallie! What a fight! He hit so hard it broke the wire to which the willow blades were attached! On the way back to the Mill, I hooked up with a 19 inch Striper. I normally release rockfish that size but I thought he would make a great Father's day dinner on the grill. All in all, it was a great, relaxing weekend.
