I fished Mill Creek the morning of 8/21, getting on the water before 7 and fishing until noon. I trolled 1/2oz jigs with 4 white and chartreuse plastics casting them and I also used a popping cork. I was catching fish on all baits, the popping cork caught five rockfish. I caught 15 striped bass, three speckled trout and a large lizardfish. The trout were off points of land at the transition from deeper water to shallower water. I didnt run across any other lizardfish or cutlass fish either. Im assuming that as the water cools and day light has shortened they have moved on.
My intent today was to see if the bigger rockfish had moved back into to creek (although schoolies have been here all summer). I did catch two keeper rockfish today, the trout were all undersized.
