I fished Mallows Bay for a few hours yesterday, 10/5 looking for largemouth bass. But, when I got there it became evident that the fishing would be a little tough. Most of the bay and the burning basin are weed choked with algae covering the weeds.
Anyway, I caught my first fish on my third cast, (wacky rig) a small largemouth bass. I then fished the next three hours looking for fish. I went back into the marsh then I went out as far as the wreaks looking for fish.
My next fish came from the burning basin as did all the fish, (small spinner bait) It became apparent that the bass werent very interested in my baits. So I turned my attention to snakehead. I lifted my pedal drive and paddled over top of the algae and weeds. Working my way through the sticky green mess. I started casting a small topwater bait. (Snakehead Outlawz .25 Slayer Ratz) I had a bunch of blowups but only two takers of my bait.
Fun day!
