I fished out of Clarks Landing 11/9 with a friend. We launched at first light and started fishing Cuckold Creek. He had caught fish there last week under birds, but I had my doubts on a repeat performance. The water temperature was 55 degrees in Cuckold Creek, the bays temperature is still in the low 60s. Thinking the fish have moved out to warmer depths.
I trolled some, looking for fish on the meter. We did this for an hour. My friend spotted fish and took a cast catching one small striped bass. I found fish on the meter and started vertical jigging a metal jig. I ended up catching five and landing three. Only one keeper in the boat. Then we saw birds working, but we soon realized that the bait was being forced to the surface by Loons. Oh bother
We wrapped it up after about three hours. It was a beautiful day to be on the water.
