Contrary to the "croakers at dusk" report I've been reading, my son, Patrick, and I arrived midway between Sharp's Island Lighthouse and the "80A" buoy around 1:45pm. Before Patrick had his line in the water, I had two large croakers using bloodworms. By 4:20pm, we had caught nearly 50 large croakers, ranging in size between 10-15.5 inches (3 over 15 inches). Not too bad of a catch rate. One fish every three minutes, including time lost losing and retying 5 rigs lost to snags. The wind had us drifting along the line slightly to the east from the light to the "80A" buoy. The larger croakers seem to hit just north of the "80A" buoy. We also caught one small rockfish (approx. 13 inches) and a medium spot. We were by ourselves out there today (Wednesday). Some trollers were just NW of the light and one circled us I guess to see what we were doing. Awesome afternoon with my son!
