Shad Run is Underway

The shad run is underway with lots of hickory shad and a few american shad being caught on shad darts and small spoons. I caught over 30 hickory shad and 2 american shad with one of the american shad being nice sized. The banks above fletchers became a little crowded in the afternoon. BTW, a man taking a fishery survey approached me as I was leaving after fishing and asked if I would answer some questions. He asked if anglers should be allowed to keep american shad and if I was interested in fishing for trout in Washington DC. I said yes to both questions. Maybe people can take home an american shad for dinner in the future as well as fish for stocked trout somewhere in Washington DC. Maybe next year?
